Elegance Car are delighted to offer this beautiful and unrestored two-owner Mercedes
190SL which remains in a very rare state of preservation. There are thousands of
190 SL’s in the world but it is unlikely that many original and unrestored examples
are left to be discovered in this condition.

This Roadster was purchased new by the owner of the Mercedes dealership of Nice.
After 42 years of ownership and a declining health, he sold it in 2001 to its
current owner who drove only 6000km over the last 18 years.

This example is finished in a Graphite Grey color complimenting a Mid-Red Leather
interior providing a lovely period look for the 190SL which is not often seen.
The original leather interior has been very well preserved and retains a lovely
patina reflecting 60 years of originality.

The vehicle runs and drives beautifully and retains all its original features
along with a hardtop and a third-passenger transverse seat which was
a quite rare optional extra in that era.

* 1 Owner from 1960 to 2001 / 2 Owners in total *
* Only 95.500 km including Records, Books & Tools *
* Fully original / Matching numbers & colors *
* Regularly serviced with a fresh MOT *

"In the early 1950s, Mercedes-Benz returned to competition with the 300SL coupé,
designed under the supervision of the brilliant engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut.
Extremely powerful and very successful, the car attracted the attention of the U.S.
importer Max Hoffman, who requested the carmaker to develop a street legal version
as well as a more affordable variant. Thus, two years later, at the New York Motor
Show, the stand featured two brand new cars from Mercedes: the 300 SL Coupe
"gullwing" on the one hand, and the prototype 190 SL, on the other hand.

The following year, in 1955, at the Geneva Motor Show the production versions of both
were unveiled. The two new Mercedes-Benzes had strikingly similar lines, starting
with the grille, but if the 300 SL offered the look of a more muscular and athletic
style befitting its powerful powertrain, the 190 SL sported a very elegant design
that blended sportiness with subtle finesse."
